Julie wanted to bring 40 years of yo-yo dieting to an END

Name: Julie
Age: 57
Start weight: 146lbs
End/Current weight: 120lbs

1 - Tell me about your previous dieting attempts.

I think I started dieting when I was around 16 so 40 years which is crazy - right?

If I wasn't dieting I was putting it back on and usually be more each time, so a typical yo-yo dieter that had learned nothing until I joined Munro.

Most of the diet years were spent at Weight Watchers.

I even helped out at the classes and was asked to become a leader because I was successful at becoming a "Lifetime member", nothing to do with my knowledge of nutrition (or lack of it).

I also dabbled in shakes, tablets, keto, cabbage soup diet, well those are the ones I can remember (yuk)

2 - What was it you hoped The Munro Method would do for you?

I wanted to understand what it took not only to lose weight it but how to maintain the loss successfully.

3 - How did you hear about us??

I had seen an Instagram connection, post lots of stuff on Insta and she was doing well and tagging @munro_nutrition, so thought I'd give the page a follow, which I did for quite a few months.

I liked what I was reading, so continued to watch the posts and stories.

4 - What was it about us that stood out from other available options?

I knew I had to do something before I put on all the weight I had previously lost.

At my heaviest in my 40s, I was 175lbs and being only 5ft; I was just continuing to put on more weight.

5 - Did anything almost put you off coming to work with us?

I was a bit scared of the Macro thing, I thought I wouldn't get it, but OMG, I was so wrong!

The way Jason explains it and the importance of the balance of our diet was a light bulb moment.

6 - What made you bite the bullet and sign up?

I kept watching Jason's stories on Instagram and thought "I like this guy" he says it as it is, no sugar coating, seemed to know what he was talking about and made me LOL a lot.

7 - What did you enjoy most about being a Clan Munro member?

As I have worked from home for the last 15 years, being on my own most days, it was great to connect with a like-minded community.

Right from the start, everyone was so welcoming. Having sections where you can watch videos, read material and refer back to when needed its fantastic.

First thing in the morning I read the Daily Posts, which starts me off in the right frame of mind for the day.

I love the live chats, and if I don't happen to be able to watch them, I can watch back later as they are all saved.

I always looked forward to my fortnightly check-ins, where if any tweaks are needed then can be done or even just a well done you're doing great, more of the same, made my day.

8 - What have you been able to achieve since become a member of the Clan?

As I said, the biggie for me was to be able to maintain my weight.

I have successfully done this for over 3 years now.

I still stay in the group for my daily fix of motivation and interaction with the other members, though!

Once you decide you want to go to maintenance, you are not just given a gold star and sent on your merry way to come back in 6 months later heavier than you were.

It is taken slowly, with care and a lot of education on what it takes.

You need to find your maintenance sweet spot, which can take a little while to find.

9 - What has exceeded your expectations since working with us?

My mindset on social occasions! I would quite often say I couldn't make something as I was scared if I ate or drank above my calories on that one day it would lead to me putting on weight.

Now, I say Yes to everything! But now I know if I choose to go and enjoy myself that one night is all part of the balance.

I can enjoy myself, and then I can go back to what I do most of the time, and it won't have any impact.

10 - Why would you recommend us to others?

Munro takes you through your whole journey. From fat-loss to learning how to maintain.

You can and have a social life whilst losing as well as maintaining.

he coaches give great in-depth feedback at your check-ins, so you are always learning and improving.

11 - Was there anything about Munro that surprised you?

When I joined, I hadn't realised that there would be challenges throughout the year you could join in at no extra cost!

If you successfully made it to the end, you go into a draw along with everyone else to win amazing prizes.

It's not some 'biggest loser' competition. You are only competing with your own progress.

I have been lucky to win a few of these, and they helped me stay focus as well.

12 - What advice would you give someone thinking about joining us?

"Just do it!".

It may feel hard at the start (what doesn't?), but don't think you need to learn and do it all in the first week.

You can take your time, soak up the knowledge and the positivity of the members.

It's not a quick fix; you will have loads of lightbulb moments; everyone is here to help.

I just wish I'd known all this years ago!

13 - How confident are you that you can now take everything you've learned during your time with us to go on and maintain the results you've achieved?

100% Living it!

I have put on just a few pounds over lockdown.

The gyms are open again, and I'm working on my step goal. I've put myself into a small deficit so I know I'll get back to where I was very quickly.

I would never have been able to do this in the past, but I can do this on my own now!
